This unit covered various aspects of classroom management, including the use of eye contact, gesture, and voice, as well as seating plans and different ways to group students in the classroom. The unit also covered a number of finer points involved in classroom management, such as reducing the time spent with your back to the class when writing on the board, giving individual attention to students who need it, reducing teacher talking time, giving concise and effective instructions, establishing rapport with students, and maintaining discipline. After covering this unit, I feel that I have gained a number of insights on how to successfully manage a classroom, and I will likely refer back to my notes on this unit often once I start teaching.
