Classroom management is essential for effective learning. Teachers must be able to effectively organize, manage, maintain discipline and have a friendly relaxed manner. Teachers must understand what gestures to use in class and when to use them , how to effectively use the voice to manage a class , some circumstances call for a greater projection while other circumstances might call for a more calm voice . The teacher has to be able to adapt his/ her language to the level of the students. Using complicated language would confuse the students. In order for effective learning, the teacher has to be familiar with all the students and involve each one of them. Name calling shouldn?t be used before a question instead at the end of the question so as to keep all the students alert. Students can be grouped in pairs, whole class groupings or made to work on their own. Each has its own advantages and cons but they allow students to either work together or work individually. Groupings increase students talking time or work alone and increase self reliance. A fair amount of pair and group work should be used in study and active stage. Classroom arrangements depend on the size of the class, nationality, personality of students and space available. It?s important to know how organize the students; this would create a good atmosphere in class.
