Modal auxiliary verbs, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs are more complex and difficult language points for students (and arguably even for native speakers). Monitoring student progress and thoroughly clarifying each topic is important. It would also be useful to incorporate language and concepts that students already know in order to add context and interest to the lesson. Context is highly important for learning and utilizing these structures in conversation, and finding a way to engage the students in multiple ways will not only help clarify these lesson points, but also help solidify them in memory and fluency as well.
