The unit covers the teaching of skills used to take in information in a new language, as opposed to things like speaking and writing. I was interested in the breakdown of the different types of reading. They really are separate skills. This unit also covered how to choose materials appropriate to the students you are teaching. It isn't always easy to gauge what students will be interested in or what they will be able to comprehend. The students should be familiar with the style of writing, the topic, and the level. I think when possible, I would like to give students a few choices of what they would like to read or listen to.
