In this unit we learned about tenses. The past, present, and future each have four aspects of simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous to make a total of twelve tenses. The simple aspect is used for routines, permanent situations, commentaries, directions, and stories. Continuous is used for actions in progress, frequent actions, background events, and developing situations. Perfect is used for actions that happened at an indefinite time, completed past actions in unfinished time period at time of speaking, and past actions with present results. Perfect continuous is used for an incomplete and ongoing activity or a recently finished, uninterrupted activity with present results.
