This was a really great unit for me to read. In fact, it may have been the most helpful so far. Being a native English speaker, my pronunciation is very good. However, my ability to notice things like intonation and stress is not very strong. As a result, I am able to sympathize with students but it also makes my job as a teacher more difficult. This unit helped me to understand how to explain things better in class. I now have a better understanding of how to teach students to shape their mouth when pronouncing different sounds. I also have a better understanding of when we use rising and falling intonation and which words usually receive stress in a sentence. I learned a lot of useful information that will help me greatly when teaching my students.
