This unit focused on evaluation and testing. It gave an overview of the different kinds of testing, namely: placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests and practice tests. I learnt what these tests are, for example, a practice test is given in preparation for external examination. I learnt the different external examinations available to ESL students. For example, the TOEFL is an american english exam required by US universities for admission. Non-native speakers are required to take this exam. This unit was very practical and gave me a good understanding of evaluation and testing.
