In this unit we watched two video with different teaching skills. In the first video, the teacher's behavior is very cold and doesn't encourage the students to partecipate activity in the lesson. Also the lesson is not well planned, as he starts talking about modal auxiliary verbs without explaining it properly.
In the second video , the teacher has a happy behavior and is always wearing a smile, which encourages the class to partecipate. The teacher also asks a lot of questions, which minimalises the teacher talk time.This unit covered the many and varied approaches to teaching a foreign language, as well as introducing the basic ESA (Engage, Study, and Activate) structures lessons could take. The lesson also included examples of the kinds of activities one might use during each stage. The lesson was interesting not only because it covers very practical information, but also because I could think back to my own experiences in a foreign language classroom and recognize different teaching ideologies as well as the different ESA stages.
