This unit was interesting because I have never previously studied or even looked at the phonemic alphabet. I know that pronunciation can be difficult with new languages, though I was never taught that I should learn the phonemic alphabet. I can see how useful it can be to language learners and will encourage my students to learn it. I also realized how intimidating the english language must be to learners, seeing as sound changing, linking, sound dropping, and extra lettering are commonly used. I will clearly have to work on those aspects with my students.
