This unit was helpful in describing different types of material and ways in which to use course books it also helped linking this section to an ESA lesson and stating different types of activities which can be used in lesson. I feel as though the units are no interlinking and coming together which is making more sense overall. The unit compares the materials in a course book with authentic and "teacher-created"" materials. The course book provides teachers with a scope and sequence aligned to the level of english proficiency of the students. This can be very helpful for new teachers. On the other hand This unit discussed the pros and cons of using course books, authentic materials, and created materials in class. It gave many tips on when and how to use the different materials. This section was interesting and helped reinforce some philosophies that I was already familiar with. The principles taught are important to remember when lesson planning for the year.
