Pronunciation and phonology are very hard to understand, memorize and use. However, Intonation, Stress, and Articulation are very important things to teach. The way English is spoken is vital. Many arguments are started and ended simply because of the tone in which a person speaks. When it comes to learning the phonetic alphabet I can see why it is helpful when sounding out words. Although the time and energy it takes to learn a whole other alphabet to match to sounds, to then match to words, seems a bit excessive and definitely for the advanced learner.This lesson taught me a lot about different learning/teaching techniques that will be useful on the job. I think that the most effective techniques largely depends on the teacher and situation, however in correspondence to the TEFL practice I think that the \"grammar- translation\", \"PPP\", \"audio- lingualism\", and \"task-based learning\" are the most effective. It is important when learning a new language to continuously be surrounded in the language, be able to connect with their own native language, as well as see and put that language into action.
