This unit focused on the relationship between teacher and learner. Although each has their own role in this relationship, the lesson repeatedly emphasized that a good teacher can often prompt a healthy interest in the language on the part of their students. In addition to striving to continually embody a series of positive characteristics at all times (e.g. patience, sensitivity in correcting, enthusiasm for course content, etc), this can be accomplished by suiting the teaching role to a given class activity. At some points this will require the teacher to be more directly engaged, while at others they will play a role more focused upon observation and providing assistance upon request. In all these roles, the teacher should be continually striving to maximize the benefit for their students. Awareness of the particularities of the class' language level, cultural affinities, and age-level can also help in shaping the lessons to better suit the needs of the students.
