In this unit we focused on different types of past tenses. When studying this unit, I felt that past tense might be one of the easier units to teach, the only difficulty being the irregular verbs as that is something that should be memorized. I feel that the most confusing section for students would be past perfect continuous, as it does not seem to come up often in day to day vernacular. Also, if one word it omitted then the sentence would come out incorrect. When teaching this unit, I feel it would be important to teach a formula to make sentence structure easier. This unit discusses both the importance of planning lessons, and how to go about doing so in regards to the Straight Arrow Engage - Study - Activate plan and how to make goals and assess them after. The importance of this lesson lies in it's explanation of the necessary, but often overlooked, role that lesson planning plays in successfully teaching a language to students. It allows one to create aims for the class as well a a guideline that can be followed throughout, while maintaining flexibility according to the student's needs or the needs of a particular subject.
