The first unit was very helpful to get an understanding of the broad field that is covered by what is termed as Business English. The list of acronyms is most helpful since I was not aware of the variety in courses and teaching qualifications. Looking at the content I believe the course will be interesting and will provide a good basis for teaching Business English. I hope to pass with good marks and find work as a freelance teacher in an in-company setting.This unit presented the opportunity to observe a real life English lesson in progress. From the two videos, it is evident that a teacher's attitude impacts student participation in the lesson. It is also apparent that starting a lesson from a point that students are familiar with i.e. finding out what students know and then building on it, is instrumental in making the students feel like they own the lesson and will hence be more enthusiastic about learning.
