In this unit I learned about the potential problem situations that can arise in an ESL classroom and several suggestions on how to solve those problems. Of the problems discussed in this unit, the ones that I learned the most new things about are warm up activities, large classes, and reluctant students. For beginning class, fun activities such as tongue twisters or hang man can help the students get ready for learning English in an engaging way. In the case of large classes, individual work sheets, choral repetition, and pair work can ensure that all students are actively participating and involved in the activities. Finally, I learned that reluctant students can be encouraged to participate with pair work and Plenty of practice to allow them to master the task Before speaking in front of the class which causes them anxiety.
