In unit 12, we are looking at the productive skills: speaking and writing. They both are used for the same purpose - to communicate. The differences between accuracy and fluency activities are concentrated on producing correct language while fluency activities are concentrated on allowing the students to experiment and be creative with language. Some of the speaking activities are drilling, prompting, modal dialogues, guided role-play, free role-play, discussions and etc. Teacher can encourage students to speak and interact during a lesson by pair-work, group-work, careful planning and etc. Writing text has quite a number of differences which separates it from speaking. Not only are there differences in grammar, vocabulary but also in spelling, handwriting, layout and punctuation.
