In unit 4 I learned a great deal regarding teaching new vocabulary and grammar functions. It is best to choose vocabulary that can be used often and is similar to words that students already know. Also it is important to focus on the usage,meaning, and forms of grammar patterns. When teaching these new words and concepts, the ESA model should be used, with variations such as the boomerang and patchwork models. These lessons should be designed around the students and classroom as a whole to cater to specific needs.
