I want to explain some terms.Aprroach : theoretical assumptions and beliefs about the language. ( Why?) Method : Generalized set of classroom procedures ( How? ) like learner teacher role,techniques,materials to be used. Technique: Specific classroom exercises ( what ? ) Grammar Translatin Method: It appeared to understand and read the literature,has a traditional view. In this method, Grammar is taught deductively. It is easiest and quickest method,it saves time for teachers but neglects speaking. Direct Method: It was against to GTM. Aim is to teach students how to communicate. And Concrete vocabulary is taught by using realia and pictures whereas Abstract vocabulary is taught by association of ideas. Audio-Lingual Method : As a first scientific method,Army method has its roots in both psychology nad linguistics.Method was a kind of mechanical habit formation.( I sometimes use Backward,repetition,chain,transformation and substitution drills in my classes ) Suggestopedia: With humanism, it believes that psychological failures are main cause of failures. That's why Using a comfortable atmosphere can accelerate the learning.Also, Double-planedness theory is one of my favourites. Learning the language both conscious and subconscious aspects effect the learning process positively. Peripheral learning is encouraged via posters and decorations.As Howard Gardner says,Taking into consideration the individual differences is an important aspect during learning process. Multiple Intelligences are the second of my favourite approaches.
