This unit concentrated on parts of speech in the english language. I was surprised at how much I got from this unit as I am a native speaker. While reading through the unit I was reminded of a number of technical terms for parts of speech and even picked up a few new one's, that I don't remember ever learning. For example I can Name articles, but I can remember the last time I ever had to describe them as indefinite or definite; it must have been elementary school. Another example, I do not believe I had ever heard the term comparative adjective. Reading through the choices I could pick out the answer as I understood it was being used to compare to things, but that comes from knowing the language and the definition of comparative, not something I remember from learning the language. Overall I think this lesson showed that even though someone may be a native speaker does not mean they have a full understanding of it to be able to teach it right away to a non speaker, especially when a group of students may range in native languages.
