The emphasis on student autonomy that dominates this unit was quite enlightening to a person who studied Latin via the grammatical method. It was overwhelming to read of the many teaching methods that have been devised to cater to different learning styles, but the outline of the ESA module as encompassing the best features of other schools (primarily task-completion, communicative, PPP, and the "discovery"" promotion of the silent method) was reassuring."
