This unit primarily covered the basic aspects of English grammar that are essential to a foreign English speaker. As a native speaker who learned English as a child, these rules were never explicit, and were sort of engrained into my English speaking as I learned it. These are the defined aspects of English that separate it from the world's languages. English has many irregular verbs, exceptions to grammar, and small nuances that make the grammar difficult to grasp. This chapter tried to define those in a way that would make sense to someone just learning English.
