In order for optimal learning to occur, both the teacher and the learners have certain responsibilities. The teacher has multiple roles to play depending on the activity and objectives in a lesson. These roles include manager, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, facilitator, model, and observor. The teacher must care most about their students' learning. Learners should be motivated and willing to listen, ask questions, and receive feedback. Adults and children differ in their learning. Children are more likely to learn English in context as opposed to relating it to their native language. Adults bring experience but can struggle dealing with correction. There are six language levels. Teachers should be considerate of the cultural differences of their students.
