Unit 6 focuses on past tenses, we can again see the importance, of these sentence structures when teaching the English language. The first structure was past simple, actions that were done at a definite time in the past, ex would be I worked, I played, and I shopped. Each of the past action were completed and no longer in progress. Past continuous was the second we learned is an action that happened Before that time and probably continued after. An example would be: I was cooking dinner my friend came over or while I was taking a shower my mom called. Past perfect uses (had) plus past participle verb (ed) to make sentences. Examples are she told me she had worked in South Korea; he had to call a locksmith because he locked his keys in the car. And finally the last structure was past perfect continuous: longer actions in the past that had been going on continuously or until the time were thinking, an example would be as such before taking a break he had been working on his car for 3 hours. It is very important to remember these sentence structures when teaching the English language or just showing correct sentence structure.
