The simple past uses the verb in past. We add -ed at the end of regular verbs to indicate the action was in the past tense or past participle. Irregular verbs such as do, be, sing, etc change and therefore students need to learn the past tense and the past participle forms of the verbs. To indicate uninterrupted past actions, we use the past continuous. For this Type of sentence, we add "was"" for single and ""were"" for plural subjects
