I did not realize there were so many different tenses in English - twelve is a lot to learn and know! But having each tense defined is beneficial not only for me to increase my knowledge, but also for my future students. The better I can explain each of the present tenses, the more likely the students will be able to understand and use them correctly.I have spent a lot of time working with phonics. I believe that good phonics are foundational for good learning. Phonics will bleed into reading, writing, and even speaking. I've done exercises where students need to write what I say out-loud and they can struggle a lot because they don't understand how to associate letters with what they are hearing.
