Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. In this lesson, I've learnt what an effective lesson is like and what a bad lesson is. Attitude does matter. Moreover, we're supposed to follow the typical ESA procedure, motivate students with fun activities, elicit the language points in study session and try to set up games and role-plays as many as possible to let them use the target language.In this unit, I learnt what the broad building blocks of a language and how to go about teaching them. While I understood a lot of the reasons why to teach vocabulary, I didn't think of teachability as a reason on which vocabulary to teach but it makes perfect sense to only teach words that students can learn rather than words they 'need' to know.
