They're vs Their vs There - English Grammar - Teaching Tips

"They're", "their" and "there" are three words that are often used incorrectly. "They're" is simply the contracted form of "they are". "Their" is a possessive and indicates ownership of something. "There" indicates a place. Due to the Internet and instant messaging, the three words have been icreasingly used incorrectly. However, if you'd like to use them correctly, you should keep their meanings in mind. When trying to decide which word to use remember that "they're" = they are, "their" = ownership and "there" = place.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

This chapter looked at starting the teaching of a Business English course. It considered determining the level and placement of students into a class and the completion of a needs assessment and a syllabus for that class. It additionally discusses testing, for progress and achievement, and course evaluations by both the students and the teacher.I enjoyed this unit as I have had my teaching background and after this unit I have some good understanding about the different ways to keep the students attention and how we can use our organising skills to conduct a class with minimal problems. Alot of the context I was already familiar with but it is great to have a refresher on these topics.
