The introductory unit gives an insight of what one can find/learn in this course. Also, it briefly explains the course?s aims and objectives and lists some general terminology (e.g. CTBE ? Certificate in Teaching Business English, ESP ? Teaching of English for Specific Purposes, etc.) related to English for Specific Purposes/Business English. The Unit ends up with some information on general Business English and English for Specific Purposes. What I?ve found interesting is the facts that an ESP teacher doesn?t have to have any specific training in the area in which he/she is teaching (what would many people find strange actually). The main purpose is to give the students/clients the skills to use their specific area knowledge through the medium of the English language.
