This unit was quite challenging for me as it required me to reexamine English from a perspective of someone who is unable to correctly pronounce or articulate meaning through intonation. As a native speaker of English, I often take for granted my abilities to understand English phrases with varying levels of stress. This unit taught me the patterns in volume/pitch of sentences as well as the general rules that we apply to our sentences when speaking. Additionally, this unit covered phonetic scripts, a system I had previously been unfamiliar with. While learning these scripts was a bit difficult for me, I am now aware of the importance of knowing them, especially given the variations in English pronunciation. Overall this unit was helpful for me in practicing my pronunciation and understanding of it.
