In this chapter I have learnt the different methods of teaching English as a language starting from the grammar translation, audio-lingualism to the most effective method developed by Hammer which involves the three steps of Engage-Study-Activate (ESA). This literary means, that before you start to teach, engage the students with some activities about the topic to be covered and in the process as teacher you should be identifying weakness of the students which are to be corrected very well in the study phase which involves serious learning of the language and finally the Activate stage where the students try to put into practice the language they already learnt and what they have just learnt. This helps the teacher to get the feedback about whether the students understood of did understand the topic.
