Although I do understand and appreciate that testing is a valuable tool to place and track progress of students, I have had a lot of friends who are brilliant students but totally choke on tests. Luckily I have had teacher's who recognise this pattern and change their testing process with these syudents. Like everything else that I have learned, except for standardized tests, teachers must adapt theeir methods to get maximum results for both students and teachers. I feel that short quizzes are the most effective and least stressful method for following students progress and can help teacher to find out early and frequently what areas students need more help in.
