The wide range of evaluation methods both within and beyond the classroom can serve to supplement and complement classroom material. When utilized correctly, they serve to track students? progress, give teachers a needed benchmark for individual student abilities, and to sort students by personal language fluency. While my classroom won?t necessarily use all of the described tests in this lesson, the categorization of different types of tests?from placement to diagnostic to progress to practice to achievement?provide a great framework and base of knowledge from which to draw from when students will inevitably need to be tested in the future.
