This unit went over the receptive skills, reading and listening. There are two general categories that these can be split into, reading and listening for a purpose, or for entertainment. When teaching it is good to try and include a combination of these two to be able to help the students learn at the same time as keeping their interest. It is important to use texts, whether authentic or non-authentic, that are at the proper level for the students so as to give them confidence and keep their attention. Preteaching vocabulary is also a helpful way to teach more difficult/unknown vocabulary and allow them to more easily move through the texts that they are studying.
