I have learnt from this unit that there are definite approaches, methods and techniques for teaching English language. Which of them to apply depends on your personality, the culture of the students, and their needs. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages. This course is based on the ESA methodology (engage, study and activate), put forward by Jeremy Harmer, which allows a teacher to be more flexible in the classroom. The most important in this methodology is that students need to be motivated, be exposed to the language and have the opportunity to use it and all these factors should come into a play in the classroom.
