Learning teaching methodologies including a brief history at the beginning of the unit gives me as the student an overview of what many ways of learning the language and how much it has evolved in the past years. I have learnt so much about subtleties in correcting a student and ways to make the entire class benefit from one student's mistake/error. It also teaches me ways to correct students in a more appropriate and effective manner without making the student feel embarrassed. Having the ESA method makes a great formula or pattern to start with and surely with practice and time this can become more natural to me as a teacher.
