In this unit, the learning of a native language (L1) and of a secondary language (L2) is addressed. Many of the following practices have been debated regarding the best method of teaching a second language including grammar-translation; audio-linguism; presentation, practice, and production; community language learning; the silent way; the lexical approach; and task based learning, to name a few.
