Unit one provided an overview of a teacher's role in the classroom and what characteristics make a teacher successful. The unit also covered information regarding the students taking the class. The unit discussed the differences between adult learners versus young learners. Adult learners may be more motivated to learn whereas students may be in a position where they are required to attend class. However, younger people may find it easier to learn another language. Lastly, the unit listed the different levels of a language learner. For example, beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced.
