This unit covers why and how teachers and English Learning Centers test their student's English proficiency and progress. The unit shows the need for testing so as students can be correctly placed into the appropriate level groups, through to types of external testing available internationally and the reasons behind the different tests available i.e. entrance into U.S universities or for immigrants to Britain. I have long been aware of the need to test students however this unit highlighted to me the use of differing testing methods and their purpose throughout the student's learning that I was not aware of i.e diagnostic testing.
