I was struck by the observation in the Unit that writing is often neglected in TEFL situations. In a straight academic setting, writing is usually over emphasized at the expense of speaking. However, my experience living in Japan concurs with the observation. Which is regrettable because writing provides a kinesthetic learning element and is helpful to visual learners. For my previous professional teaching experience, games were not an integral aspect to the courses I taught. Upon reflection here, games make a lot sense for the TEFL world, and I think I will be a little more open to using them in my mainstream academic situations.
