Unit 14 was on course books and lesson materials. The most common material are course books. They offer syllabus's, lesson plans, and include exercises. However they are sometimes too one-size-fits-all and other sources are necessary. Authentic material are those you would find in day to day situations. Poems, songs, news articles, and so on. Created materials are rather self-explanatory. They could be flashcards, crosswords, gap-fill activities, and more. Good lessons are a mixture of all three. It is also better to skip certain parts of course books which don't fit the needs of the class and substitute it with your own materials.
