In this unit, I learned about the past tenses and studied common mistakes that ESL students typically make when learning about these tenses. I studied the usages and forms of the past simple, past perfect, past continuous, and past perfect continuous tenses and considered the irregular conjugations of verbs in the past simple tense. By being aware of mistakes that ESL students may make when trying to apply these tenses and being able to carefully explain their conjugations and prerequisites for use, I can properly structure a boomerang ESA lesson that will anticipate the needs of my students and take these circumstances into account.
