Unit 5 focuses on how to manage your class. This unit has taught me how to make use of eye contact, gestures, body language and your voice effectively when teaching. It?s also highlighted what NOT to do when trying to build rapport with the students and maintain discipline. Furthermore, the unit discusses ways to group the students ? from whole-class grouping to individual activities ? and highlights the pros and cons of each grouping strategy. The various ways in which a teacher can physically organise the class and arrange the furniture so that student interaction AND the teacher?s ability to monitor the whole class is maximised, is also being discussed.
