The perception is that all TEFL classes are focused on speaking and not developing additional productive skills such as writing. Teaching writing and helping students develop this skill will only improve their speaking. It's my opinion that when learning anything, including language, when a student is able to resource different skills it strengthens their learning. Additionally, games are an excellent way to engage students and utilize skills they are developing in a seemingly unconstructed way. Games are fun! So while all games have a construction in terms of their rules, they allow students to access language and interact in a way that feels very unstructured and free.
