Unit 12 was about how to teach productive skills. The two basic types of productive skills are speaking and writing. According to the Unit, there are two types of activities that can be used to teach productive skills. These are accuracy activities and fluency activities. I think that it is important to balance these two types of activities in the classroom. Many of my co-workers in the past have spoken English as a second language, and I've noticed that some have more trouble with fluency than accuracy and vice versa. Since each individual will be different in this regard, it is important to use both of these types of activites to help the students build their language skills.
