In Unit 13: Teaching Pronunciation and Phonology, it is noted that many English teachers simply skip over pronunciation because they do not believe it is either important or easy enough to teach to foreign language speaking students. However, it is a very important facet of the English language, and must be acknowledged. In this unit, I learned common intonation rules and patterns, where and when to stress words and words within a specific sentence (dependent on meaning), the phonemic alphabet and how to read and use it, and finally and most interestingly, about articulation. I now know how to do teach all of these things, as well as when to teach pronunciation in the classroom.
