In this unit I reflected and learnt about teaching techniques and methods. I got to learn about nine different teaching techniques. Of which for me, the most important would be the PPP. Because, in my opinion, It is the best way to learn the English language in any normal given circumstance, as it is about presenting the content and then letting the students produce what they have just been presented. As the name suggests: Presentation, practice and production. But also then like I have learned in this unit, is that all of these techniques have their pluses and minuses when it comes to the certain level, culture and age of the students. I have been able to prepare and understand how to structure (with the help of the Straight arrow, Boomerang and Patchwork structures) my lessons with the learning of the next part of this unit, which was about the engage, study and activate stage. Where engaging would be to arouse the students' interest to get them involved in the lesson. With activities like: Fizz-buzz, I spy and memory games. The Study stage would then be to get the students focused on the language and how its constructed, with activities like: Information search, sentence prompts and the box game. The final activate phase would be to get the students encouraged to use any or all language they know. Activities being: role-play, surveys and debates. Finally I understand when and how to correct students in any given situation. More specifically, when and what to correct during each phase of a structured lesson. Also where self correction would be more efficient than teacher-student correction.
