This unit talks about different methods that could be used to teach English to English language learners. It gives the plus and minuses of the various methods as well. The unit emphasizes the importance of ESA method which covers motivation, exposure, and opportunity for students to use the language and thus recommend this method be involved in planning of EFL lessons. The unit further explains that achieving success via ESA, eliciting makes an important part of this method and list lots of suggestive ideas for eliciting. The unit also gives pointers for teachers to consider when eliciting to avoid compromising the essence of the aspect. In the unit there is a detailed breakdown of ESA with lots of ideas of teaching activities that can suit the different stages. In order to better explain the method ( ESA ), examples for different of ESA like; 'Straight Arrow'ESA lesson, 'Boomerang' ESA lesson, 'Patchwork' ESA lesson are discussed in the unit. Note on these different styles is the lesson must begin with 'Engage' and end in 'Activate' stage, the order between these two stages can vary. In the unit we see the importance of other aspects like; 1.giving feedback to students 2.correcting students. From this unit I have learnt a lot on lesson planning, different methods to use in teaching and of course a great many teaching ideas for different stages of a lesson.One other useful an important thing I have learnt is the importance to know when, what, how to correct my students and who should correct the student to achieve a better effect and maintain rapport between teacher and students and between students and students.
