Covered in this unit was the selection and use of course books in the classroom. From personal experience, course books in foreign language can age poorly and leave students feeling uninterested. When using an outdated coursebook, an instructor can use one of the four options presented in the unit. Either they can omit, replace, supplement, or adapt the book to the students' needs. This is something learned with time as new teachers can rely on a teacher's book as a syllabus. It was stressed repeatedly a teacher must not rely too heavily on a coursebook and provide creative materials of their own. Though there are many opinions on the use of a coursebook, it is obvious that there are many factors to consider in the use and implementation of a coursebook.
