Unit 6 covered the four past tenses, Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect, and Past Perfect Continuous. These tenses follow similar principles as their present counterparts. In general, we use the Past Simple as the \"go to\" these for referring to the past unless we have a specific use for one of the other tenses. We use the Past Continuous to refer to something that was in progress around a particular time in the past. We use the Past Perfect tense to talk about an action that happened before another past action. And we use the Past Perfect Continuous to refer to an action that continued up to, or shortly before, a past moment.
