There are two types of first lesson classes: New group and existing group. New groups are groups of students that do not know each other and work is needed to establish rapport between each of them, and they also not be familiar with EFL methodology. Existing groups are groups of students who already know each other and familiar with EFL teaching. In first lessons teachers should establish rapport with the students, find out more about their students to cater for students in future lesson plans, find out about individual English language levels and to find out about each students' needs and aspirations with English so that the course can be tailored to meet the needs of the class.
